Lowery Painting

Branding, Website Design & Development, Responsive

Launch Project

Lowery Painting is a locally owned full-service commercial painting contractor. As their web presence and brand was in need of a proverbial “paint job” of its own, they sought out our expertise. For their new identity, we chose to hand create typography that is reminiscent of having been scripted with a paintbrush itself as well as a set of custom icons.

For the company’s website, Lowery Painting wanted to iterate their core professional values and highlight the photography from its job sites. With a toggle activated navigation function and a full screen slideshow that showcases completed projects throughout the entire site, the end result allows the company’s exceptional work to do the talking.

Collins & Lacy

Website Design & Development, Responsive

Launch Project

Established in 1984, Collins & Lacy, P.C. is a client-focused, statewide defense litigation firm in South Carolina. To commemorate its milestone of 30 years as a firm, Collins & Lacy asked Northbound to assist in the overhaul of their online presence.

To accomplish this, we created a modern, clean, and mobile responsive layout. In addition, we consolidated and streamlined the organization of their extensive content into a better user experience. The site also features detailed attorney bios that incorporate introduction videos of each individual, along with 6 blogs that which Collins & Lacy attorneys regularly update with their insight and expertise.

While it is not showcased on the facade, this website also boasts of robust customizations to the content management system on the back-end, that allows Collins & Lacy staff to easily manage every portion of the site, be it a certain attorney, practice area, industry, blog post, or news event.

Columbia SC 63

Website Design & Development, Responsive

Launch Project

In January 2012, the mayors of seven southern cities integral during the Civil Rights movement began a collaborative effort to mark the 50th anniversary of 1963, the defining year of the movement.

Throughout 2013, these cities recognized and commemorated the courage of countless ordinary citizens who risked everything to drive the march toward freedom and force the nation to uphold its democratic ideals.

It was a distinct honor to be selected by Columbia’s committee to refurbish their website. Our goal was to transform their existing site into a fresh, more accessible platform. Utilizing their extensive collection of text, photos, and video collateral, we were able to create a site featuring a timeline meant to engross the viewer, encouraging investigation into the details of these historic events within the city. Through the addition of various interactive aspects including a tour map, photo identification, and story submission, the site’s visitors are able to become a part of the story themselves.

Mobile and tablet responsive, this website is a perfect interactive supplement for the walking tour one can take along Columbia’s Main Street.

Lizard’s Thicket

Website Design & Development, e-Commerce, Photography, Responsive

Launch Project

A southern institution, Lizard’s Thicket has been serving authentic country cooking for 35 years. To commemorate their lengthy run as a successful meat and three, the company wanted to further their existing brand with a significantly enhanced online presence.

Our goal was to create an experience that was modern but still stylistically retrofitted, in a sense, to continue the classic tone with which the company has based their whole identity on. “Modern” and “Country” are two words that typically don’t go hand in hand, but this project required that the two become reacquainted.

The result boasts of responsive design, interactive map, eCommerce, bold photos, and a vibrant color palate. The typography, though, provides a foil to enhance the restaurant’s old-fashioned charm, striking a balance uniquely suitable for the friendly folks at Lizard’s Thicket. Y’all come!

Launch Project

The Whig is an underground bar and music venue in the heart of downtown Columbia, South Carolina. It is home to the infamous 75 cents Taco Tuesdays, one heck of a burger, and happens to be right next door to our office. Self proclaimed as North America’s greatest dive bar, The Whig is a local institution and serves as a home away from home for many.

Their online presence highlights its menu and strives to accurately detail its idiosyncratic tone. As a foil to an extremely lean approach to verbal content, we leaned hard on bold photography, allowing The Whig to speak for itself, all within a mobile responsive and subtle parallax environment. Baker, Ravenel & Bender are a law firm located in Columbia, South Carolina. They are a firm both proud of their hometown as well as their commitment to their clients. They have handled thousands of cases over the life of the firm, and needed an online presence to match that same standard of high quality service on which their reputation had been built. For their site, we didn’t need bells and whistles, but simply a clean, interactive face to the business. By presenting the firm as they are, the site manages to create a climate of legal professionalism, making clients feel informed and important.

Katie Purnell Photography

Branding, Website Design & Development, Responsive

Launch Project

Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Katie Purnell is a prolific photographer who was in need of branding and a online platform to share and showcase her work to existing and potential clients.

Katie’s work has a unique voice of its own, so we kept the design and branding very minimal for this project. The homepage allows Katie to display the work she considers to be her most representative, and at the bottom of the page, we added a small, unobtrusive navigation bar that sticks and scrolls with the page.

Additional internal pages are accessible for those who want to learn more, contact Katie or log in to view the images they’ve commissioned Katie to photograph. Let the good memories begin.

Corley Mill House and Garden

Website Design & Development, Icons

Launch Project

Corley Mill House and Garden is a wildly popular local venue. Located on a sprawling property conveniently close to both Columbia and Lexington, South Carolina, it is one of the places for a local soiree.

This client needed a site that showcased the venue’s historical elegance and charm but felt modern as well. By utilizing a muted pallet and focusing on images of the property, we were able to communicate the tone of the venue while also providing the Corley Mill House with enough space to share information and communicate with clients.

Launch Project

It’s no secret that we are fans of Scott Hall’s cooking. So when he mentioned that he needed a site for the catering arm of his rapidly expanding empire, we jumped at the chance. This catering company serves up all styles of cuisine, from fun & casual BBQ to elegant & formal receptions. Taking the tagline, “A Different Kind of Catering Company,” at face value, we tried to diverge from the typical catering site. Filling the browser with beautiful, wall-to-wall images of food and dining events, we kept the content at a minimum because let’s face it, it’s the food that’s the star.

Launch Project

Alan Flusser is, in brief, a star in the world of men’s fashion. Having worked in the industry for decades, he knows pretty much everything there is to know about his field. For his custom shop located in Manhattan, Alan wanted to not only give potential clients the opportunity to make an appointment, but also to share his wealth of knowledge with a wider audience.

By utilizing a clean, classic style, we worked in conjunction with Wier / Stewart’s branding to create a complete repository for all things Flusser. The site includes his advice on every aspect of a gentleman’s wardrobe and his musings on a wide variety of subjects. Once a man is ready to take the next step into custom clothing, and we hear there is no turning back, there’s a link in the upper right-hand corner to make an appointment with Alan himself.

Put on by the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division, The Cinderella Project is helping South Carolina girls become a princess on prom night. They collect gently used formal gowns, handbags, and accessories for girls who are financially unable to purchase these items for the prom. On the day of the “boutique,” area high school students from across the state will be able to chose from hundreds of dresses and accessories at no cost. Developing the brand, we used a bright and youthful color palette, whimsical text, and hand-drawn dress illustrations to provide a that personal touch. We very are excited to sponsor such a special project.

Featured on BravoTV, the Food Network and in the pages of Smithsonian Traveler and GQ Magazines (among many others), Scott Hall’s Bone-In Artisan Barbecue Truck is serving up five star food in constantly changing locations. Considering his already-established and extremely loyal following, our goal was to first give those familiar with the truck an easy way to find it while also introducing new visitors to the glory of Bone-In’s fare.

Our decision was to keep it simple. The site exists on one page, with an interactive map displaying the truck’s locations up top. Making the site responsive, we ensured that folks could find Bone-In wherever they are and from any platform, from a smart phone to their desktop – and everything in between.

Getting to do for it a company with such a great atmosphere, filled by like-minded people who are producing inspiring work, was just icing on the cake.

When creating the site, tried to manifest their motto, “Find Happiness In Your Work” throughout every portion. It was also a chance to integrate exciting new elements and functionality like the diagonally masked slider featured on the homepage.

Launch Project

Until recent years, Columbia, South Carolina’s New Year celebrations could have been referred to as ‘famously calm’. With no unifying area-wide event, a like-minded committee decided to introduce a change, creating the Famously Hot New Year event two years ago. We have been on board since its inception and have enjoyed watching as things grow hotter and hotter. It was our goal with the site to give visitors a one-stop repository for all event details including an interactive map to showcase the new location. This responsive site includes artist and lineup info, online ticketing, and sponsorship details, all right on the homepage, to give visitors exactly what they need to see right off the bat.

How did the night go?  24,000 folks from throughout the Southeast joined in.
